Blood Angels Chainsword Prop Gallery – Warhammer 40,000 Cosplay

Over the weekend I managed to finish building my Blood Angels Chainsword prop. For those that are not familiar, the Chainsword is a hand-to-hand combat weapon used by (among others) Space Marines in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Therefore, it’s pretty badass – a wonderful tool with which to purge heretics.

In the past I have built the vast majority of my props from resistant materials; woods, plastics and metals. Because of this, my edged weapons tend not to be convention safe (though rules for this sort of thing do vary. While I’m not a frequent Cosplayer, I have been thinking it would be nice to get more involved in that side of the community . Consequently, I chose to make my Blood Angels Chainsword in EVA foam – a first for me.

Naturally I will be producing a build tutorial for the Blood Angels Chainsword prop in due course (Praise the Emperor!). But for now, feel free to enjoy some glamour shots of the chainsword in the gallery below.

Prop Philosophy: Dumb Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

This Summer I have made the same mistake on two different builds. Yes, on two separate occasions, I’ve glued a piece on upside down. This is what we in the industry call radically moronic. We’ve all been there. You’re a long way into a project. You’ve overcome all the...

I’ve been making things since I was old enough to pronounce Lego. Consequently my maker life has been spent constructing, kit-bashing and scratch-building anything and everything that has taken my fancy. After dedicating my time to Wargaming, Model  Armour & Railways, I stumbled across what has now become an obsession – Prop building.
